In-laws ousted bride in 48 hours of marriage citing physical disability

There are thousands of cases when in-laws torture their daughter-in-law for dowry, there are cases when barat has returned due to non-payment of dowry on time. But this time a bizarre incident was seen in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra when the newlywed bride was ousted from her in-law’s home merely 48 hours after the wedding.

The reason behind the expulsion was her feet, yes you read that right. Her father-in-law couldn’t control her anger leading to the expulsion of that girl. The shocking incident held on the same of her maternal grandmother’s demise. 

The sequence begins when her retired army veteran father-in-law sends the bride to her maternal home citing her disability in the girl’s feet. Soon the matter went viral and the relationship between families and friends got disrupted, leading to the filing of a police complaint. 

In-laws disability claim is baseless, says Dr Anurag

Dr Anurag Paliwa, a counselor at the Family Counselling Center, shed light on the situation, revealing that both the bride and the groom hail from families and army backgrounds. Paliwal asserted the bride’s physical capability dismissing claims of any sort of disability purportedly reported by her in-laws, calling them baseless. The bride’s family has taken the situation seriously, attributing the rejection to serious intentional non-acceptance by the in-laws. 

FIR has been lodged regarding the matter, marking a significant escalation in the unfolding dispute. This incident has sparked debates around traditional beliefs and familial expectations, which raises the pertinent question about society’s norms and individual rights.
