Akshay Kumar is an Indian actor and producer who works in Indian Cinema. He is often popularly known as Khiladi Kumar. He has been doing movies for over three decades and is popularly known as ‘Khiladi Kumar’. 

He has appeared in over 100 movies and won several awards including National Film Award and two Filmfare Awards. He received Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour from the Indian government in 2009. 

Kumar was also featured among Forbes’s highest-paid celebrities and highest-paid actors in the world from 2015 to 2020.

Akshay Kumar Early Life 

Akshay Kumar was born in Old Delhi on September 9, 1967, in the family of Hari Om Bhatia and Aruna Bhatia. His father was an Indian army officer. Kumar always loved sports and his father also enjoyed wrestling. He grew up in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk and later moved to Mumbai when his father left the Army and became an accountant with UNICEF. 

He received his education from Don Bosco High School, Matunga, and learned Karate simultaneously. He enrolled in Guru Nanak Khalsa College for higher education but dropped out later as he does not show much interest in his studies. 

He showed his interest in continuing Karate and somehow his father managed to send him to Thailand. He lived there for five years and learned Thai Boxing. 

After obtaining a black belt in Taekwondo, he studied martial arts in Bangkok, Thailand, and learned Muay Thai, and worked as a chef and waiter. Later he moved to Calcutta (Kolkata) to work in a travel agency, in Fhaka in a hotel as a chef and also worked in Kundan Jeweller. Finally, he decided to head back to Mumbai to work as a martial arts teacher. 

When he was teaching martial arts, the father of one of his students asked if he wanted to do modeling, who himself was a model. It gave him his first modeling assignment for a fury=nture showroom. Kumar realized that he had earned more money in two days than his one month’s salary. So he decided to continue as a model. He even worked with photographer Jayesh Sheth for 18 months without any payment to shoot his portfolio. He also worked as a background dancer for various movies.

On a fine morning, he missed a flight for an ad shoot in Bangalore. Being disappointed he visited a film studio with his portfolio and by the end of the day was signed as a lead role by producer Pramod Chakravarthy for the movie Deedar.
