His cousin Anil Devgn is a filmmaker and screenwriter. 

He completed his graduation from Silver Beach High School in Juhu and then studied at Mithibai College.

Devgn fell in love with his Jigar co-star Karisma Kapoor while filming the movie. However, the couple ended their relationship with the actress in 1995. After some time, he started dating Kajol. They gave birth to two children Nysa in 2003 and Yug in 2010.
